Development of the HTBMA journals was an exemplar of AI co-designing and co-creation with Liverpool Studio School staff and students and this work has lead to the design and delivery of a number of School support services including:
- Advice and training on the use of journals
- CPD days for teachers on the use of AI in schools
- Facilitating large scale events for international Schools
- Development of a learning from excellence school project
- Appreciative leadership projects for students
- Advice services for schools on wellbeing and resilience for staff and students
We’re always conscious of adapting Appreciative Inquiry into our clients’ specific sectors, using relevant examples and best practice to bring it to life in any given setting.
Appreciating People has worked in a number of different sectors, including with schools and college groups, in businesses, amongst a multi-denominational church group and, more recently, with a large national museum.
In the education field, AP has worked with the Liverpool Studio School on a number of AI-based initiatives over the last five years. We have helped foster student wellbeing through projects such as co-designing the How to be More Awesome journal, Appreciating Leadership workshops and a student evaluation.
Our experience with the Studio School led to us presenting at the presenting at the Flourishing Schools inaugural conference in London in January 2016, at TASIS The American School in England. The event was designed to expose delegates to both the skills and habits of flourishing, as well as providing teachers with the tools to develop a flourishing culture within the workplace.
In April 2016, the Studio School and Appreciating People successfully hosted several New Southern Hemisphere University teaching graduates. United through the application of Appreciative Inquiry, 14 new teachers shared their practice of building relationship between students and teachers – you can read more about it here.
Our work on How to be More Awesome with The Studio school contributed to their ‘good’ grading, with outstanding behaviour and safety, by Ofsted. In May 2015, Ofsted said: ‘At The Studio, senior leaders and staff have successfully created a vibrant, caring learning community where aspiration abounds and the individual can flourish’.

The Flourishing Schools conference is one of several conferences we’ve been asked to facilitate, including one on the subject of ‘play’ at Legoland.
If you’re like us to facilitate an event for you, let’s talk…
